Trinidad and Tobago to extend State of Emergency

A week after declaring a state of emergency which saw the arrests of about 800 people in Trinidad and Tobago, Kala Persad Bissessar, the Caribbean nation’s leader, is to seek parliamentary approval for an extension of its reach.
At the same time, the government plans to cut the curfew hours. The adjustment in the hours would be undertaken to ease businesses while the extension of the emergency seems designed to assure the public that people wouldn’t be left unprotected any time soon.
