Harlem Dowling Afterschool Youth to Participate in NY Rangers Tournament

Harlem Dowling’s afterschool participants at PS 161 received a special visit from Hockey star Artem Anisimov who traveled uptown to kick of the NY Rangers Street Hockey clinic.  Sponsored by Madison Square Garden’s “Garden of Dreams” the 6 week program provides inner city kids with basic hockey safety and performance skills. As part of the program, students are assigned 2 development skill coaches dedicate to teaching them safety and fundamental skills while preparing them for the upcoming Around Robin Tournament where they will test their skills against kids from 2 other afterschool agencies. “I am truly grateful for the Garden of Dreams commitment in exposing our students to sports and activities outside of their norm” said Jenny Hernandez. “It is always a great joy to see our students get excited about learning something new.”
