World Humanitarian Day is a global day to celebrate people helping one another and humanity.

Beyoncé’s song "I Was Here" was filmed in the room  in front of a live audience at the UN General Assembly Hall in New York. The video was released globally on August 19. Beyoncé and songwriter Diane Warren have donated the video to the World Humanitarian Day campaign.

The campaign website, www.whd-iwashere.org, gives everyone an opportunity to come together and share his or her individual acts of good. The campaign's goal is to reach 1 billion people in a day with a single message by August 19.

World Humanitarian Day celebrates humanitarian work and is an opportunity for everyone to work together to make a change in other people's lives. The time is now, we need to leave our mark on the world and show that we care.

In 2008, the UN General Assembly made the 19 of August World Humanitarian Day to shine light raise awareness to the public about how humanitarian workers aid world-wide and  recognize people who put their lives on the line for those in need. The UN also designated the 19 of August to commemorate the 22 to lives that were lost in an attack on the UN offices in Baghdad in 2003 on the same day. Organizations and countries across the world will celebrate World Humanitarian Day through public events and tributes, from all across the world.

We must all do our part to help raise awareness about the people that are affected by crisis that occur around the world. It is our duty as humans to help the human race progress so everyone can have a better future. It doesn’t matter how big or small the humanitarian action you do is as long you do something and give back to humanity

The campaign launched in partnership with award-winning advertising agency Drooga5, the UN humanitarian arm's lead agency for special projects. The production company named Ridley Scott & Associates and director Kenzo Digital has helped bring the initiative to life.
