Macy’s Hosts Seventh Annual “Shop For A Cause”
Print

Macy’s invites customers to participate in its seventh annual “Shop For A Cause” charity shopping event. “Shop For A Cause” will be offered at all Macy’s stores nationwide and on macys.com on Saturday, August 25, 2012. “Shop For A Cause” is Macy’s unique, one-day-only shopping event that was created to support local and national charities’ fundraising efforts, and has helped raise more than $42 million for charitable organizations across the country since 2006. Macy’s has designated March of Dimes, the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health, as its national beneficiary of all proceeds of sales of “Shop For A Cause” savings passes in-stores and on macys.com.

This year, more than 6,000 local charities have signed up to participate. By purchasing $5 “Shop For A Cause” savings passes from these organizations, customers support their favorite causes and receive 25 percent off on regular, sale and clearance merchandise, as well as 10 percent off watches, furniture, mattresses and area rugs in the store all day Saturday, August 25, and are eligible to win a $500 gift card. (See savings pass for discount exclusions and restrictions. No purchase necessary to participate in sweepstakes. Official rules and alternate means of entry for sweepstakes are available at all Macy’s locations.)

Each nonprofit organization participating in the shopping event will keep 100 percent of every savings pass it sells. For a list of all participating charities, please visit macys.com/shopforacause.

“Giving back is a cornerstone of Macy’s culture, and through our annual ‘Shop For A Cause’ program, our customers have helped Macy’s raise more than $42 million for local and national charities,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “Our customers’ ongoing support is an inspiration and we are proud to offer them an effective, yet simple way to make a positive difference in their communities while enjoying great savings at Macy’s.”

Savings passes sold at Macy’s stores and macys.com on August 25 will benefit March of Dimes, which will receive 100 percent of the proceeds of every savings pass sold by Macy’s. Shopping passes are only sold by macys.com on August 25, but customers may purchase shopping passes in advance at all Macy’s stores now, and by purchasing a shopping pass instore, customers can support March of Dimes while enjoying a day of spectacular discounts, entertainment and special events.

“To have the support and commitment of a leading retailer like Macy’s is invaluable to our mission and our volunteers,” said Chad Royal-Pascoe, vice president, national strategic alliances and cause marketing for March of Dimes. Last year alone, Macy’s raised $3.2 million on behalf of mothers and babies. ‘Shop For A Cause’ demonstrates Macy’s corporate responsibility and support for the families across the country.”
