Last night’s MTV Video Music Awards highlights included heartthrob British boy band, One Direction; Frank Ocean; Chris Brown and Drake; and finally, the artist that received top-honors, Rihanna.

The Barbados-native kicked off the party with her performance of her new song, “Cockiness (I Love It)” with A$AP Rocky and two groups of dancers. TheGrio.com claims Rihanna followed this up with another performance of her hit “We Found Love” as she made her way into the pit at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

According to MTV.com, Rihanna earned a nomination for three different categories at the ceremony, including video of the year, best choreography, and best visual effects for the official video of her song, “We Found Love.” She was also included in the best art direction and best cinematography category for the music video to Drake’s song “Take care” in which she makes an appearance.
