NEW FACE OF COVER GIRL COSMETICS
It was announced that Singer/performer JANELLE Monáe will be the new `Face' for Cover Girl Cosmetics. The petite young singer, apart from being an incredible singer and stage performer is a known fashion plate, sporting tailored suits mainly in black, preppy white custom-made shirts and her signature `up-do' hairstyle. Her stunning face will be seen in the new advertising campaign for the global brand of Cover Girl.

SHISEIDO PICKS SUI HE
In more cosmetic advertising news, Chinese model SUI HE has been named as the new `Face' for Shiseido Make up line. She was hand picked by Shiseido's Artistic Director DICK PAGE who discovered her backstage after a show during Fashion Week. She comes with an impressive background being the first Asian model to open designer RALPH LAUREN'S show for the fall 2011 collection season. She's also walked for Chanel, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Oscar de la Renta and Christian Dior. She will be the featured campaign model for Shiseido's sun care and skin care campaign, with emphasis on the Asian countries, launching in January 2013.

ACTRESS JEWELRY LINE ON DISPLAY
Caribbean actress ANNA MARIA HORSFORD more recently seen in the BET sitcom `Reed Between The Lines' will be featured in the new Fox 5 television show `NEW GIRL' premiering for the fall. Anna, who is also a fledging jewelry designer, recently showcased her line of exotic jewelry, during a special evening at the popular Harlem `Cove Lounge' nightspot. That event benefited the Wadleigh Scholars Foundation. Anna recently returned from her second trip to Guyana to judge that country's annual `Model Search' competition. Anna was born and raised in Harlem to parents from Antigua and the Dominican Republic. Also making news in the fashion arena was up and coming Guyanese fashion designer, VEN BUDHU a contestant on the current season of `Project Runway.' Ven was abruptly sent home from the popular fashion Television designer's competition. Last season's `Project Runway' winner was ANYA AYOUNG CHEE from Trinidad & Tobago.

FASHION WEEK SEEN AND BE SEEN
Renowned rock-jazz pianist ELEW was literally the center of attention in the grand Edwardian Room of New York's chic Plaza Hotel, as part of the opening of noted Italian designer ANGELO GALASSO'S elegant new boutique at the Plaza. Actress KATIE HOLMES ex-wife of actor Tom Cruise showed her first Fashion week collection to lukewarm reviews at the Lincoln Center tents during Fashion Week, Not to worry, she already inked a major deal with cosmetic giant BOBBI BROWN COSMETICS as their new `Face' and spokesperson. Up in Harlem at the posh BEBENOIR BOUTIQUE, fashion stylist/model & event co-ordinator EDIOMI UTUK hosted a fashion fundraiser of Sickle Cell. One would never think that the beautiful and vibrant Ediomi is living with the illness. 15% of the proceeds from sales that night, went towards the cause.
