NAN's Ministers Luncheon During the democratic National Concention

Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network (NAN) hosted the nations most prominent black clergy and civil rights leaders at NAN's ministers luncheon, during this years Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. The program included: Star Jones, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson, Chairman of NAN & Conference of National Black Churches, Roslyn Brock, Chairman of the NAACP, Reverend Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network and MSNBC hostCongressman Emanuel Cleaver, Chair of the Congressional Black CaucusRev. Dr.  W. Franklyn Richardson, Chair of the Conference of National Black Churches, Rev. Dr. Frederick Haynes, Senior Pastor of Friendship West Baptist ChurchRoslyn Brock, Chairman of the NAACPAnd other leaders in the church and civil rights.

 

Northeast Bronx Community and Elected Officials Unite To Endorse Andy King For NY City Council 12th District Of The Bronx

NYS Congressman Eliot Engel, NYC Comptroller John Liu, NYC Public Advocate Bill De Blasio, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr and NYS Assemblyman & Bronx County Chairman Carl E. Heastie.

Lifelong resident and community activist, Andy King, brought unity to his community. Elected Officials and dozens of community residents came together to endorse Mr. King and celebrate the opening of King's Campaign Headquarters located on 211th Street and Bronxwood Avenue in The Surrey Co-op Apartments.

A host of Clergy as well as residential leaders showed their support for Candidate King. The campaign headquarters was full of energy and excitement for what is about to happen in this "Special Election" with many supporters expressing their enthusiasm to vote for President Barack Obama and Andy King on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

Citywide and Bronx elected officials had one resounding message. "Send Andy King to the City Council.”

 

AMERICA couture Spring 2013 Fashion Show presented by designer b michael

designer b michael wowed guests with his Spring 2013 couture runway show.
Models showcased timeless cocktail and party dresses with strong lines, luxe fabrics and vivid floral tones, while daytime looks featured sophisticated navy-white neutrals. The show was incredibly well-received. Notable front row attendees included Star Jones, Kathryn Chenault, Ms. Cicely Tyson, Susan L. Taylor, Constance White, Amy Fine Collins, Tamara Tunie with husband Gregory Generet,Brenda Blackmon, Betsy Cohen, Cheryl Willis and Norman and Suzanne Cohn

A short presentation from the designer's charitable organization, Today's Students Tomorrow's Teachers (TSTT), preceded the show. Shahid Wright, the first graduate of the program which mentors and funds economically challenged students pursuing careers in teaching, gave a very moving speech thanking organizers and event sponsors Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. The program is designed to reverse the growing shortage of highly qualified teachers, particularly teachers of color. TSTT has a successful track record of improving student academic achievement, high school and college graduation rates and teacher certifications. TSTT has produced over 100 graduates who are now teachers and has a 100% placement rate.
