R&B and pop singers Alicia Keys and Dionne Warwick will be honored as black women who “rock” on BET, in an awards ceremony that is an offshoot of the organization created by DJ Beverly Bond to promote positive images of black women, “Black Girls Rock!”

The “Black Girls Rock!” special celebrates the accomplishments of black women and will return to BET networks November 4th. TheGrio.com reports the ceremony will take place on October 13th in New York City and will be hosted, for a second time, by actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King.

Warwick will receive the title, “living legend” while Keys receives the “rock star” award. Actress Kerry Washington from “Sandal” will receive the “star power” award. Journalist Susan Taylor and Somali activist Dr. Hawa Abdi will be among a few that are honored.
