Healthfirst at Circle of Sisters

Healthfirst sponsored the WBLS-FM 2012 Circle of Sisters Expo held at the Jacob Javits Center from October 6-7. Celebrating its 8th year, the annual two-day event is New York’s largest expo for women of color featuring a host of speakers, authors, seminars, R&B and gospel concerts, and over 200 exhibitors. The Healthfirst Healthy Living health panel, “A Healthy You Is A Better You”, offered an informative session and educational tools for developing a healthier lifestyle on the last day of the expo, Sunday, October 7.

 “A Healthy You Is A Better You” panelists included moderator, Deja Vu – WBLS-FM radio personality; Surgeon General, Vice Admiral Regina M. Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A; Terrie Williams - Author Publicist and Mental Health Expert; Darrin Henson - Actor; Wendy Ida - Nationally Certified Master Trainer and Nutrition Expert; C.Virginia Fields - President of the National Black Leadership Commission on Aids and former Manhattan Borough President; Kim Coles - Actress and Tichina Arnold - Actress. The panel was kicked off with a special introduction by George Hulse, Healthfirst Vice President of External Affairs.

 “Providing resources to improve the health and overall well-being of the communities we serve is a key driver of our sponsorship of the Circle of Sisters Expo,” said George Hulse, Healthfirst Vice President of External Affairs. “We are proud to present this special health panel for the second year in a row, offering life-changing information for long term health benefits.”

 The Healthfirst Healthy Living booth in the exhibit hall provided adults with free body mass index screenings and massages and children were treated to free face paintings.
