Glen C. Campbell’s “Song for Obama” Revisited
Print

By: Patricia Trutescu

Although the Trinidad-born Glen C. Campbell works as an architect based in New York City; music has always been in his spirit. Campbell composed songs for some time while focusing on making a living. However; one fateful morning in 2008, Glen woke from a dream at 4:00 AM, and picked up his guitar to work-out chords to a song that would later be titled “Song for Obama.”

Subconsciously fascinated by America’s changing political climate, Campbell saw the emergence of Senator Obama to the forefront of the presidential race as a profound moment in history. According to a interview with Hot Indie Media in 2012, Campbell explains that in early 2009, he had sent President Obama a letter with a CD titled Obama The Journey that includes the track, “Song for Obama,” congratulating him for his victory. Now, four years later, with the largest election coming up in just a matter of weeks, this song needs to be heard.

Campbell’s “Song for Obama” recently debuted at #3 on Billboard Magazine. Watch the video montage below to hear “Song for Obama” and remember to go out and vote this November 6th.
