TheGrio.com reports that Opera Winfrey paired up with HBO to produce a new television drama for the network – one about a wealthy academic who becomes the first black president at a prestigious liberal arts college.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Winfrey and Harpo Production’s Kate Forte will co-executive produce the series, along with playwright Thomas Bradshaw. There is now information yet on a potential name for the series or when it will premiere.

Harpo Productions worked with ABC for many years before signing a deal with HBO to develop movies, documentaries and scripted series in 2008.

More about the potential series

In Winfrey’s and HBO’s new television drama, the main character’s new career move propels him and his family into the nation’s headlines. During this time, they all struggle to simultaneously upkeep the façade of a perfect family and dealing with personal battles.
